Department researchers named among the most highly cited in the world
Four faculty members in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry have been acknowledged for the high impact of their research work with inclusion on the 2018 Highly Cited Researchers List. This highly prestigious honor recognizes scientists who have demonstrated significant influence through the publication of multiple highly cited papers over the last decade.

The Highly Cited Researchers list from Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomas Reuters) is an annual compilation that identifies the most influential researchers in the sciences and social sciences from around the world. The 2018 list contains approximately 4,000 researchers in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences, as well as about 2,000 highly cited researchers identified for exceptional performance across multiple fields.

Clarivate Analytics' 2018 list focuses on recent research achievement, using highly cited papers in science and social sciences journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection between 2006–2016. Highly cited papers are defined as those that rank in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year.
